]]> Salinas Valley Health has roots running back to 1953 when its hospital was first founded to service the Monterey County community.  To provide more parking at the campus, ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ is expanding the existing parking garage. The design build project includes four levels of parking above a basement level containing support spaces and loading dock. The cast-in-place concrete extension to the existing parking structure includes 245 stalls within 76,251 SF.

The facility includes 882 parking stalls on nine-levels with two elevators. ]]> 3″-6″ thick mat slab foundation for a six-level (two below grade), 531-stall parking structure that ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ built. We placed 5,339 CY of concrete for the foundation over a 24-hour period. This required 594 deliveries – one every 1.6 minutes with 66 mixer trucks. We self-performed the foundation and placing of all vertical concrete. Adjacent occupied buildings with a limited laydown area.

]]> Construction of a 241,750 SF parking structure with 3,500 SF of office space on the ground floor. The four-level facility was built was in operating hospital site – extensive coordination was required to mitigate impacts of construction on the adjacent occupied facilities. We assisted the Owner in making critical design decisions based on construction costs. This included establishing a better site on campus to place the 757-stall garage, which helped save costs and allowed for a faster schedule. ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ self-performed layout, structural excavation, foundations, slab-on-grade, and vertical concrete placement.

]]> Design and construction of a 393,000 SF cast-in-place parking structure in a congested urban environment. The seven-level facility was built on an existing on-grade parking lot in the heart of an operating hospital campus. A multi-story hospital was also being built concurrently on-site. Careful coordination with Sutter Health services and adjacent contractors was required. The new structure provides 1,067 parking spaces for staff, patients and visitors. Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) included the Owner, Architect, and Contractor to optimize the preconstruction and construction processes. The project required extensive below grade parking system evaluation, including multiple deep foundations, soil improvement and waterproofing systems. We self-performed the concrete on the project, placing of 25,000 CY of concrete in 8 months. We met 21 sustainable elements in design and construction, as well as recycled 96% of construction waste, exceeding the City of Oakland’s 65% requirement.

]]> Design and construction of a 432,290 SF hybrid precast parking structure. The new five-level facility was engineered to accommodate a future sixth-level and includes a bridge connector to the adjacent mall. The 1,382 stall structure features different colored architectural pre-cast concrete panels, as well as architectural wire mesh and green screen systems. ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ completed this project with an extremely accelerated 10-month schedule. We placed 30,000 square feet of elevated concrete deck per week. We self-performed all layout, building foundation work, concrete footings, slab on grade and all miscellaneous forming and concrete works. Scope also included associated accessible parking areas, hardscape and landscape. The adjacent mall remained open and accessible throughout construction.

]]> Design and construction of a 231,000 SF cast-in-place garage adjacent to a concurrent hospital expansion. The five-level, 670 stall facility features a compressed pallet of materials and colors for an overall architecture consistent with the existing hospital campus and adjacent residential properties. A combination of perforated precast panels and a stainless steel screen limit light overspill from the facility into the surrounding areas. The low-profile parking structure was designed to be terraced into the sloped site. Extensive coordination and planning measures were required with the multiple adjacent general contractors working on the new hospital expansion and to ensure patient and staff access to the main hospital throughout construction.
